I've been clinical and doing research at a hospital affiliated with a good medical program, and I was told by numerous anonymous sources that I'll probably get a courtesy interview. I was told I stand a fair shot given my holistic background. I have yet to complete approximately 24 credits of science prerequisites for most medical schools. Low-GPA success stories: Anyone get into med school with a subpar GPA? :)If you're like me and had your father going in for a major surgery (life threatening)... missed class time... had to work 3 jobs during college because your family couldn't support you at the time (dad lost job - used savings to pay bill)... but you worked your little tush off and have something to show for it (I'll post my application profile soon...), this is the thread for you.Additionally - SDN can be helpful (people like to post secondaries there... a great way to get a head start. It isn't the end all to your dreams though. What brought you to the decision to continue to repeat the same failing courses without first improving your health? You are a junior, so quite young and thus will have the time for re-invention, which i think you'll need to do with a 2.7 sGPA. Was not ready for that.Probably taking this exam again at the end of august.What have I learned from all this? You know that for medical school, G.P.A. You won an award? I want it to not only be a diary journal, but hope for others who are deserving of a spot in medical school.Not to sound discouraging, but maybe you should have waited until you actually got in or were invited for an interview before you start giving advice. But a low GPA isn't an end all.

I did not study as sufficiently as I should've, and I bombed. I've worked hard for it. My health impacted my academics drastically to the point of having a combination of over 10 D’s and F’s in Math courses. What was your MCAT if you don't mind me asking?Which DO school did you get into? I am actually 25 right now. It can definitely be done with time and effort, so I wouldn't completely trash the idea of becoming a doctor as some may tell you. I am not a lost cause. There is no grade replacement in AMCAS or AACOMAS . I've also seen people being discouraged from applying because let's face it.. that's one less applicant. It is a very discouraging path, but if you really want it... it won't come over night. ~around 3.4-ish? But by your sophomore, junior, senior year, you were getting better and better grades and you graduated your senior year at a 4.0. I was eventually kicked out of the program and had to change majors.
